Indigo Creations and Jeff Goins

great-writersMost people within the online writing world have probably heard of Jeff Goins. If you haven’t, you should definitely check him out. So back to the point of this post.  The entire team of Indigo Creations is partaking in his newest challenge – 15 Habits of Great Writers – to be better for ourselves and for our Clients.

Jeff Goins’ Challenge

For 15 days – weekdays only – each challenger will be given a habit a day to write about. Here are his 15 habits he’ll cover:

  1. Declare.
  2. Believe.
  3. Initiate.
  4. Practice.
  5. Prepare.
  6. Steal.
  7. Start.
  8. Build.
  9. Connect.
  10. Share.
  11. Declutter.
  12. Provoke.
  13. Publish.
  14. Brand.
  15. Serve.

This challenge was inspired from his recent book, You Are a Writer (So Start Acting Like One), that just came out a couple of weeks ago. I snagged my copy prior to it hitting Amazon and such due to being a follower of his. (hint hint: join his newsletter!)

Why Take the Challenge

Many might ask, if you work a full-time job and have so much on the side, why take on such a challenge? Well, that’s a simple answer honestly. As an aspiring published author (childhood dream) you have to accept life as it is. That is honestly what makes a writer great, in my opinion. A good writer can’t be good without experiences, challenges, struggles, and victories. To be the best I can be as a writer, I need to make sure I practice and that I push myself however and whenever I can.  I’ve learned there is never a perfect time to write.  You have to make the time you have perfect.

After the Challenge

There are always more challenges, more experiments, and more life to lived to make myself a better writer.  I know the other ladies feel the same.  We all strive to be the best in everything we do – and I can tell you that’s a lot of things to be the best in. We’re sisters, daughters, girlfriends, moms, teachers, designers, artists, lovers, fighters, protestors, and friends. And that’s just the basics to be the best in… so why would we stop after this challenge?
